Job Title: Geology Technician - Temporary
As a key member of the Hecla Nevada Exploration team the Core Lab Technician will be responsible for assuming a strategic role in supporting drilling activities in the exploration department.
The Geology Technician will work in a fast-paced, demanding, dynamic and results-driven atmosphere. Adherence and promotion of all applicable safety, environmental and regulatory requirements is mandatory. The Geology Technician will be responsible for supporting the Hecla Nevada exploration geologists. Position-specific requirements may include performing measurements on diamond drill core including recovery, rock, quality, TerraSpec and magnetic susceptibility, sample routing to labs, sample QaQc, communicating with the lab and completing paperwork associated with sampling, core splitting, retrieving drill core from drill sites, washing and cleaning core.
Here’s what you can expect in this role:
- Training first. We provide department-level training on not just what to do, but safety, as well.
- Apply your technical aptitude to maintain, operate and troubleshoot issues located in surface and underground mineral processing and power generation facilities.
- Based in Winnemucca, with occasional travel to mine site. Your day starts at Winnemucca, and this position works Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday from 6 am – 4 pm, with overtime as required.
- You’ll be above and/or below ground doing workplace inspections assigned each morning. Then, we’ll rely on you to prioritize your work before you get started.
- Safety is important. Every piece of equipment and each work area must be inspected before we start the day for your safety and the safety of your team.

- Must be 18 or older.
- Must be able to work independently, as well as a member of a team.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Forklift operation experience preferred.
