This role will be based onsite at our Headquarters in Austin, TX.
The Geological technician is an integral part of our exploration and operations geology team. They will assist staff and field geologists in identifying, testing, quantifying, and producing new and existing frac sand reserves, as well as building and maintaining mapping and data products.
- Geologic mapping
- Data sourcing, QC, import, and assembly into ArcGIS projects
- ArcGIS project maintenance/architecture
- Map and figure drafting for presentations, publications, and internal use
- Build operator and drilling maps to support long-term planning
- Building and maintaining data dashboards in ArcGIS Enterprise and/or PowerBI
- Performing desktop studies to identify promising deposits for frac sand production
- Assisting field geologist in planning drilling and sampling campaigns to delineate deposits
- Assist field geologist as necessary with sampling work (<10% field time)
- Assisting mine planning and operations teams in building geological and assay quality models of deposits
- Assist geologist with market analysis and intel, including tracking O&G operator activity, mergers, and market opportunities
- Cross training with GIS team, field geology, and ops teams
- Safety certification with MSHA
- Software training (ArcGIS, PowerBI, Python, etc.)
- 2-4 years of experience in oil and gas, mining, or resource-based market analysis
- Bachelor's degree in Geology or related field
- Proficient in ArcGIS Pro and related software suite
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)
- Geologic modeling experience a plus, but not required (MinePlan, Vulcan, Petrel, Kingdom, Leapfrog, etc.)
