Rainy River Mine

Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario. The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. Geology Supervisor

We are currently seeking two Geology Co-op Students to join our Geology Team in New Gold Rainy River Mine. These are 8-month, fixed term positions starting in May 2026.

The position will introduce students to a wide array of roles within the geology team at Rainy River Mine. It will provide experience in open pit grade control management and working with the team for collecting required samples. This may range from Blast Hole Sampling to Reverse Circulation (RC) Drilling.

- Show strong commitment and adherence to New Gold’s values

- Attend and participate in daily safety line up meetings, weekly team meetings, and required safety training

- Identify, analyze and recommend opportunities for safety, productivity and cost improvements

- Engage with various teams across the mine site

- Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications And Experience

- Currently enrolled in a Geology or Earth Sciences Program

- Valid Drivers license required

- Able to work independently & within groups

- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 products; Teams, Excel, Outlook, Word

- Experience in an industrial or open pit mining environment would be considered an asset.
