The Generator Instructor is responsible for delivering technical training on the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety procedures of commercial and industrial power generators. This role ensures technicians and field personnel are fully prepared to perform their duties safely, efficiently, and in compliance with organizational standards.
· Develop and deliver instructor-led training on standby, portable, and industrial generator systems.
· Provide hands-on demonstrations covering diagnostics, load testing, fuel systems, transfer switches, and electrical theory.
· Assess trainee performance and provide individualized coaching to ensure competency.
· Create training materials, technical guides, SOPs, and multimedia content to support learning objectives.
· Collaborate with Service Operations leadership to identify skill gaps and adjust training plans.
· Ensure all training complies with safety regulations, manufacturer guidelines, and industry best practices.
· Maintain training equipment, labs, and training generators in proper working condition.
· Conduct periodic safety refreshers and compliance training for field personnel.
· Support the onboarding process for new technicians by providing foundational technical instruction.
· Strong knowledge of generator mechanics, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance on multiple brands. (Cat, Cummins, Kohler, Mtu and Generac)
· Ability to translate complex technical concepts into approachable, hands-on training.
· Experience in generator service, field operations, or industrial equipment training.
· Knowledgeable with NFPA 110, NFPA 70 and Osha 30.
· Certification in electrical or mechanical disciplines (preferred).
