The General Manager is responsible for the achievement of the plant objectives for the manufacturing operation consistent with maintaining productivity, quality and health and safety standards.
· 5 to 10 years of experience as a General Manager/Operations Manager in a manufacturing environment is required.
· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
· Ability to monitor multiple tasks at once
Manage the operations of the Kentucky plant, which includes developing and implementing plans to efficiently use materials, labor and equipment to meet production targets.
· Plans and directs the production operation through subordinates, applying their knowledge of production techniques, capacities and human resource skills with the goal of improved productivity, quality and cost reduction.
· Shall initiate and drive cost saving proposals and improvement in processes and productivity.
· Ensure products are produced within the tolerance established by and with the assistance of the quality department. The incumbent shall be a firm believer in the ISO quality standards.
· The incumbent shall ensure that housekeeping standards are maintained and shall comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
· Complete the necessary paperwork as required for their areas of responsibility.
· Effectively communicate with his/her subordinates as well as peers to improve employee knowledge and human relations.
· Shall recommend training requirements for subordinates and hourly personnel.
· Will be part of the budgetary team in establishing the annual operating budget for his/her areas of responsibility.
· Direct, coach and mentor staff to ensure performance targets are achieved.
· Develop a positive labor relations and health and safety culture.
· Ensure the well-being of all employees under his/her direction.
· Be responsible for safety performance in the assigned areas:
o Take action to correct substandard acts or conditions
o Use safety processes in all work and according to Dajcor Health & Safety, Environmental and Housekeeping policies
50% of time spent in the plant environment
· May be exposed, on a limited basis, to hazardous elements while on the plant floor
· Majority of time spent at desk on office computer systems
· High attention to detail required in completing paperwork
· Communication skills in directing and listening to employee concerns
