General Maintenance Supervisor

Provides direct supervision to all salaried subordinates in the maintenance shop daily.

Coaches' employees regarding job performance issues, and provides feedback as needed.

Encourages conformance with environmental standards and practices during all phases of the maintenance effort daily.

Participates and monitors predictive/preventative maintenance activities to gather condition information weekly.

Identifies and communicates deficiencies with maintenance practices, equipment performance, workplace safety, workforce efficiency and equipment reliability.

Attend daily and weekly planning and scheduling meetings.

Communicate with internal and external employees to schedule cooperative work efforts.

Communicates and interprets company policies to employees as needed.

Assures employee compliance with departmental and company safety programs and policies and the approved TSCS.

Identifies and seeks assistance to solve work problems.

Ensure root cause failure analysis is being followed and the results are shared with all parties.

Manage and review weekly and monthly maintenance schedules.

Ensure maintenance exceeds goals through maintenance metrics.

Ensure all department maintenance procedures and practices are followed.

Ensure month end costs are coded accurately.

Generates weekly and monthly operational statistics and cost data reports and disseminate the information to the appropriate personnel.

Monitor equipment performance against Asarco standards and benchmarks with other companies.

Assists employees with technical and practical identification/diagnosis of equipment and machinery defects or malfunctions.

Analyze training needs based on short- and long-term needs of the department and the equipment being maintained.

Manage and coordinate the internal and external training to meet the needs associated with the maintenance needs.

Monitors work progress and relevant equipment status to decide necessity of work re-assignments to assure optimal operational productivity as needed.

Oversee the collection and recording of equipment and work activity data.

Participate in maintenance, ore control, and mine planning meetings as required.

Continuously analyze and improve productivity through behavior modification.

Manages the Labor Agreement, monitors compliance of the Absentee Control, and Drug and Alcohol programs, hears and answers second step grievances, holds disciplinary hearings and makes discipline decisions. Resolves operational and employee problems while coordinating with Human Resource.

Review of Dispatch Operation performance graphs relevant to maintenance.

Participate in department's manpower, scheduling, and bidding process.

Provide end-of-the-month reports.

Prepare forecasts for operating costs and capital as requested by Mine Manager.

Manage purchasing of operating consumables, parts, and component rebuilds.

Participates in Performance Management and manages subordinates accordingly.

Advise the Maintenance Manager of any problems or issues and presents solutions after deliberation.

Maintain a competent and effective supervisory staff and develop them to their maximum level of competency within the department by maintaining and managing a performance improvement program.

Manage and coordinate the internal and external training to meet the needs associated with the mine and maintenance teams.

Foster a cohesive working relationship (a partnership) with the local unions and participate in committees as needed.

Accountable for mine production, special operational projects, and operational research projects.

Determine the mine equipment requirements and the necessary availability and utilization of the mine equipment to meet budgetary goals.

Must have excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills and must be able to present ideas to all levels within the company.

Must be willing to provide guidance and mentoring whenever possible. At the same time, we must be able to enforce guidelines for work conduct and correct as necessary.

Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.

Oversee the maintenance, diagnostics, and calibration of autonomous haulage trucks, including onboard sensors, control modules, and communication systems.

Collaborate with OEMs (e.g., Caterpillar) and technology vendors to ensure proper installation, commissioning, and lifecycle support of AHS components.

Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance programs are adapted to include AHS-specific requirements such as software updates, sensor alignment, and system health monitoring.

Lead the training and upskill of maintenance personnel in autonomous system technologies, including troubleshooting of autonomous control systems, LiDAR, radar, GPS, and telemetry, base machine repairs.

Monitor and analyze AHS performance data, including fault codes, system alerts, and operational KPIs, to identify trends and implement corrective actions.

Support the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for safe interaction with autonomous vehicles during maintenance and recovery operations.

Ensure compliance with cybersecurity protocols and data integrity standards related to autonomous system software and communications.

Participate in cross-functional teams to evaluate and improve the integration of AHS with dispatch, mine planning, and safety systems

BS degree in Mechanical, Civil, Industrial Engineering or equivalent or

Work experience of 15 years and a High School or Equivalent.

English language fluency: At least CEFR B2 – Upper Intermediate: Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization.
