About This Job

Position Title: Machinist

Business Unit: Northend Gear and Machine

Location: Fairfield, OH

Reports To: Operations Manager

The Machinist will be responsible for cutting gears from various gear cutting equipment -

Set up and operate a variety of hobbing machines, shapers, thread milling machines and bevel gear generator, according to setup sheets and/or blueprints to cut gear teeth on gear blanks.

Our ideal candidate will

•

Operate manual gear hob machines, shapers, thread mills, and bevel gear generators with minimal supervision

•

Be familiar with cutting spur, sprocket, helical, bevel, worm, internal & external gears

•

Possess the ability to use precision measuring equipment tools to take accurate measurements

•

Proficiently read and interpret engineering drawings and setup sheets

•

Demonstrate proficiency in math and analytical abilities (to include but not limited to Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry)

•

Utilize good verbal and written communication skills, able to read, comprehend and create written and verbal instructions in the English language

•

Follow all company and common-sense safety policies, while using all required personal protective equipment, when necessary

•

Desired Qualifications

•

Knowledge of gear cutting equipment - setup, operation and calculations

•

Knowledge of the properties of metal and material required

•

Three or more years of documented gear cutting experience required

•

Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds

•

Ability to work in a team based environment and achieve common goals

•

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain professionalism in the workplace
