Under the general direction of the Forestry Section Head or delegate, will be responsible for supporting all aspects and functions
related to pre-planning and jobsite contract administration/coordination required for the execution of Manitoba Hydro's vegetation
management programs within an assigned Manitoba Hydro operating area.
- Assist the Forester or Regional Forestry Coordinator in executing the contracted vegetation management programs within
- Engage contractors and assign vegetation management work, including on-site supervision when required.
- Required to approve and sign-off on contractor invoicing and issue work packages.
- Perform electronic data collection including: contractor daily records, customer notification status, and recording completed
work for the various vegetation management methods of work.
- Conduct vegetation surveys and/or perform QA of existing vegetation survey data for accuracy.
- Liaise with customers and carry-out pre-work notifications where required, prior to commencing vegetation management work.
- Promote safety and environmental compliance with all Corporate, Provincial and Federal regulations pertaining to the
- Effectively communicate with contractors, Customer Service Centre staff, Transmission Line Maintenance staff, Indigenous
Relations staff, government agencies, and other internal/external stakeholders relating to Forestry's maintenance programs,
including advice on vegetation management options, methods, equipment, and products;
- Monitor contractor performance and productivity, including field safety audits of contracted Forestry crews.
- Travel by various modes of transportation including but not limited to: helicopter, UTV, snowmobile, boat, Sherp, Fat Truck.
- Will be required to operate a chainsaw and perform ground felling/slashing of trees and brush, including hauling and chipping.
Formal training, equipment and PPE will be provided.
- May be required to apply herbicides via cut stump treatments or single stem treatments. Formal training, equipment and PPE
- A two-year diploma in Environmental Studies, Natural Resource Management or Technology from an institute of recognized
standing plus a minimum of two years of related experience where at least one year includes working in utility vegetation
management or overseeing vegetation management contractors;
OR
- Grade 12 plus completion of an applicable apprenticeship program and a minimum of two years of related experience where
at least one year includes working in utility vegetation management or overseeing vegetation management contractors;
OR
- Grade 12 plus a Utility Arborist Certificate (UTT, UA, CUA, or demonstrated equivalent), and a minimum of three years of
related experience where at least two years includes working in utility vegetation management or overseeing vegetation
management contractors.

- Possess a thorough knowledge of Manitoba Hydro's vegetation management program, including common equipment and
crew configurations, and industry best practices in Utility Vegetation Management (UVM).
- Required to attend and obtain chainsaw safety training both internally at Manitoba Hydro, and as provided by an external
- Required to attend and obtain all forestry-related training as determined by the Forestry Section Head.
- Demonstrated initiative and mature judgement, with the ability to make and implement sound decisions and complete
- Must have demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to communicate tactfully and
diplomatically with contractors, customers, Indigenous Communities, senior management, internal departments, and other
external stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of corporate, municipal, provincial, and federal environmental and safety regulations.
- Possess and maintain a valid Province of Manitoba class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Physically capable of performing the duties of the position safely.
- Must be willing to travel anywhere in the province of Manitoba and work away from home for extended periods of time.
- May be required to work a modified schedule to accommodate contractor rotational shifts and/or specific projects.
- Must obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $35.33-$51.96 Hourly,
$67,694.64-$99,573.24 Annually.
