Position Summary

Provides technical and administrative support to the Land organization. Assists with oil and gas contracts, lease processing, royalty owner and working interest owner correspondence, information/data management and drilling/well reporting. Prepares and maintains spreadsheets, forms and reports. Prepares company documentation and forms, including AFE submittals, invoices and payments. Tracks critical projects and maintains open communication within the Land Department and with other parties both within and external to the company. This position is located in Downtown Houston, TX. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with experience.


Essential Job Functions

- Gains basic understanding of Land processes related to oil and gas contracts, leases, general correspondence, AFE proposals, drilling elections, reports, exhibits, etc.

- Gains familiarity with working interest calculations, well submittal preparation, contract documentation, and associated regulatory and reporting requirements

- Gains familiarity with technical software

- Performs administrative duties including data gathering, spreadsheet preparation and database maintenance and updates

- Processes invoices

- Prepares AFE, payment, and other documentation as required

- Performs a variety of technical and/or administrative duties associated with data input, report updates and document retention, including filing and scanning

- Supports Landmen, Land Administration and more senior Technicians as directed

- Responsible for answering or routing working interest owner questions and/or elections

- Assists with external document and correspondence preparation associated with drilling and other Land-related program activity

- Builds foundational understanding of systems, regulatory standards, and land admin tasks

- Solves basic problems using standard processes within own team

- Communicates clearly within team and seeks guidance from senior staff

Minimum Qualifications

- Associate’s degree in Energy Management, Business, Land Administration, or related field

- 2 years of experience in land administration, contract support, or lease data management

- Basic land system and spreadsheet software familiarity (eg, Enertia, Quorum, Enverus, Excel)

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational habits and eagerness to learn

- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

- Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment; flexible with the demands of a growing company

- Ability to meet deadlines

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative approach to teamwork

- Basic research skills for reviewing leases, contracts, and other land-related documentation

- Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (Energy Mgmt, Land Admin, etc.)
