Summary

Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in screening, crushing, hoisting and barge loading at the underground salt mining facility. Directly supervises 4-6 employees in the Process Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training; planning, assigning, and directing work; ensure work is completed in a safe and efficient manner.

Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to the following:

- Supervises processing and barge loading crew, ensuring that the crew and personnel are adhering to company policies and procedures

- Ensure that crew is working efficiently and that oncoming crews have appropriate work, as per processing plan, lined up for them.

- Conduct daily safety meetings.

- Communicate process and barge loading equipment deficiencies and needs to Maintenance Dept.

- Ensure crew is working in safe environment through attention to housekeeping and workplace inspections.

- Assume responsibility of maintaining safe work conditions, adherence to operational policies and procedures, and adherence of MSHA regulations

- Responsible for meeting daily processing demands in a cost-efficient manner.

- Complete necessary daily MSHA and other checks/reports.

- Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Required Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

- Two (2) years technical associates degree and/or three (3) years of underground mining or industrial experience.

- Technical and safety skills training.

- Underground mine supervisory experience in the salt mining industry is preferred.

- Have the ability to reasonably access the areas in the mill and dock that require inspections and maintenance.
