Position Summary
The fleet technician team keeps our fleet running and minimizes business/work interruptions by performing mobile on-site breakdowns and shop-based preventative maintenance and repairs throughout the valley for the Caretaker fleet from light medium, and heavy-duty trucks, trailers, water trucks, granite shooters, heavy equipment, and small 2 and 4 stroke engines.

•Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles, trailers, heavy equipment and landscape machinery including but not limited to granite shooters, water trucks, mowers (ride on and walk behind), blowers, trimmers, edgers, chain saws, etc.… in a mobile/field environment.
•Perform adjustment and repairs on various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to the following: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.
•Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to the following: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.
•Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges
•Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and to ensure that they are working properly
•Identify problems, determine the accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives
•Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation
•Maintain and operate company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections of vehicle
•Work with and listen effectively to internal customers to assess their needs, providing information or assistance, resolving their problems, or satisfying their expectations
•Manage concurrent assigned tasks, making effective judgments as to prioritizing work related activities and time allocations
•Use hand tools, precision instruments, as well as Diesel tools, welding equipment, lift and jacks
•Document according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findings observed on Repair Orders (“RO”) using company-issued iOS device
•Accurately complete forms and all other documentation in a timely fashion
•Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule
•Maintain a high level of productivity and be able to work within or close to most Standard Repair Times
•Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers and/or discuss RO findings notes
•Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations
•Must be flexible to work out of the East Valley Shop and be mobile for on-site breakdowns based on business need
•Operates shop equipment including but not limited to cranes, welders, compressors, presses, grinders, heavy hand tools and tire servicing equipment
•Lifts, moves and/or installs heavy parts and assembles safely
•Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe working area
•Performs other duties assigned by management

Education/Experience/Licenses
•High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field - required
•21+ years of age - required
•Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record - required
•Provide your own set of hand tools - required
•3+ experience working on gas and diesel engines - required
•Experience working on Heavy Equipment - required
•Experience on broad range of landscape equipment - preferred
•Prior welding experience - preferred
•Bilingual English / Spanish - preferred

Work Environment
•Work is performed out in the field or in the EV Shop - Ability to work in extreme conditions – temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit
•Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time
Physical Requirements
•Frequently stand, walk, or crouch on narrow and/or slippery surfaces; stoop, kneel, bend to pick up or move objects; walk for long distances and on sloped ground and uneven surfaces; move, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
•Ability to perform moderately heavy laboring work
•Ability to exert oneself physically over long periods of time without tiring, which may include performing repetitive tasks.
•Ability to work outdoors for prolonged periods of time in exposed direct sun and high temperatures.

Travel Required
No overnight travel is expected. This position is based out of the Gilbert yard and travel will be Valley wide in a company truck.
