Role Objectives:
The Fleet Safety Manager will oversee all commercial vehicles, drivers, and related assets, including their operations, conditions, external and internal policy compliance, and overall safety performance. The Fleet Safety Manager will ensure that vehicles and drivers are being utilized to their fullest potential in a safe and cost-effective manner. Besides operational concerns, fleet managers also have a role in a company’s human resources, administrative, and finance-related tasks.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Oversees fleet safety and risk management; plans, organizes, directs, and implements fleet safety program as needed to comply with federal, state, and county safety standards; monitors department safety standards, assures all project operations comply with OSHA and DOT guidelines.
•Monitoring, correcting, and improving driving behaviors and operations
•Managing and monitoring GPS and Dash Cam alerts
•Manage telematics equipment
•Mentoring, coaching, and rewarding drivers
•Assisting in the recruitment, discipline, and termination of drivers
•Evaluating drivers’ performances
•Ensuring drivers’ adherence to applicable transport regulations (e.g., Hours of Service compliance)
•Providing route and operations information and technologies if needed
•Provide monthly safety results to leadership on safety behaviors and compliance
•Develops, implements, monitors, and revises short and long-range goals and objectives for the Fleet Department.
•Helps to coordinate response to emergency needs
•Remains current on modern fleet management-related issues
•Enforces personnel rules and regulations, standards of conduct, and safe work practices.
•Responsible for maintaining records of roadside DOT inspections, DOT medical cards and all other driver file information.
•Assist in the development of policies and procedures regarding fleet safety.
•Identify and evaluate new products that could extend service and reduce maintenance costs.
•Maintain confidentiality of all privileged information
•Training drivers in risk management protocols and safety standards
•Performs other duties as assigned and which are deemed necessary

Experience & Education:
Essential
•Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college preferred
•5 years related work experience in fleet safety management
•Manage fleets of 1000 units at a minimum
•Experience in managing an outsourced fleet management company preferred
•The role holder must be able to demonstrate experience within a similar environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work environment is characteristic of an office environment: sitting, standing, walking, bending and lifting are required to perform job responsibilities. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 20 lbs.
