POSITION SUMMARY
As a member of the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) team, the Safety Manager reports to the Vice President – EHS in the Denver office. The position manages all aspects of the corporate and asset field safety activities to ensure regulatory compliance. The Safety Manager fosters a culture of safety throughout Jonah Energy and works closely with EHS Asset Manager and the Field EHS Asset Manager - Safety to develop and implement safety programs and initiatives that promote continuous improvement to attain corporate safety goals. The role utilizes experience and knowledge of oil and gas production operations in daily work duties and requires strong working relationships with the field operations teams and contractors.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
•Create a work environment that is consistent with the company’s Purpose, Vision & Core Values.
•Champion corporate safety culture. Provide regular communication to leadership and staff regarding health and safety lessons learned, preventive actions to control specific risks and gaps in programs. Provide mentorship to EHS staff, act as a resource for safety issues, and maintain knowledge of safety standards and regulations.
•Update/develop and implement corporate and asset-specific safety programs, plans, policies, and procedures and best practices across the company. Review materials for effective presentation, relevance, accuracy, and applicability to current standards and regulatory requirements.
•Ensure assets maintain ongoing compliance with applicable safety requirements (state, local, federal and company). Communicate regulatory changes to leadership and teams.
•Lead incident investigation review process for all health and safety related incidents, including but not limited to recordable injuries, first aid events, and near miss incidents. Support asset teams with root cause analysis of incidents and provide support of corrective action plans. Support high-level agency reporting as required (OSHA, legal support, etc.).
•Conduct and review safety audits, workplace inspections, site hazard assessments.
•Support Jonah Energy Contractor Management procedures including ISNet compliance (third-party platform for safety program and other evaluations) and safety orientation training.
•Update safety orientation content and identify and support necessary safety training in coordination with Field EHS Asset Managers. Maintain proper documentation.
•Participate in emergency planning and preparation, including drills, exercises, and training programs.
•Oversee project documentation, tracking, and analysis of safety statistics, trend analyses, and OSHA reports, and lead improvement action plans.
•Maintain monthly and annual reporting required by OSHA.
•Maintain respectful and productive working relationships within and across all work groups, ensuring effective collaboration and cooperation.

•Perform other duties and projects assigned to support the success of the department and company.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
•Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and requirements particularly as they apply to working on oil and gas operations.
•Familiarity concerning the hazards and safe operating practices associated with the oil and gas industry, including but not limited to gas, oil, and condensate-specific hazards, well control hazards, hazardous materials, energized streams, etc.
•Working knowledge of applicable federal, state and company safety regulations and requirements as well as generally accepted good safety practices in the industry.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effectively converse with all levels of the company, customers, business associates
•Leadership in corporate safety programs with ability to work up and down the chain of command.
•Detail-oriented to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
•Work well under pressure.

•Comfortable working in a team environment and independently
•Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (excel, word and PowerPoint).

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
•Bachelor of Science in safety, occupational health, related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
•5+ years progressive experience in environmental, health and safety practices in the oil and gas industry – with at least 2 years focused as a safety professional.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
•Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Professional Engineer
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
•Experience conducting corporate safety audits.
•Experience working with contractor management systems such as ISNetworld.
•Experience working with safety training platforms.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
•10+ years progressive experience in environmental, health and safety practices in the oil and gas industry – with at least 5 years focused as a safety professional.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
•Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or ability to obtain within one year

•Management role with impact on corporate, department and field operations within area of responsibility.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
•Work in a climate-controlled office and routinely use standard office equipment
•Work outside in field locations with varying temperature, wind conditions, uneven walking surfaces. Requires ability to climb stairs and step over and under equipment.
