What You’ll Do…

Under general supervision, the Mobile Fleet Mechanic will perform inspection, repair, and maintenance of all company fleet vehicles including light/medium/heavy duty diesel, gas, propane, and alternative powered trucks and vehicles as well as equipment and trailers at off-site locations, in the field.


Duties/Responsibilities:

Troubleshoots, diagnoses, adjusts, repairs, rebuilds, or installs components on a variety of vehicles and equipment requiring skilled maintenance and safe work methods.
Performs skilled automotive or heavy duty or specialized equipment diagnostics, electrical, and repair functions such as: required for electronic systems or engine, transmission, differential, air systems, and hydraulic system.
Inspect, adjust, and replace necessary units and related parts including valves, hoses, belts and alternators.
Repair cooling, fuel, electrical, and exhaust systems; tune engines using standard testing equipment.
Diagnose, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems.
Perform preventive maintenance work on vehicles, including lubrication and oil changes.
Fabricate and weld to repair equipment as necessary.
May perform vehicle body work and collision repair.
Operate vehicles and equipment to aid in diagnostics; pick up and deliver vehicles and parts.
Install emergency equipment for emergency vehicles; perform repair work on other company equipment and systems as necessary.
Clean and maintain work area and equipment.
Inventory, order and control tools, supplies and materials for garage; research, compare, and locate parts, equipment, and vehicles.
Maintain records on all maintenance and repair work performed; track recalls, smog inspection dates, and warranties for all vehicles.
Perform all other duties as assigned.

· Ensures all applicable safety standards and regulations are followed while at work.


· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Our ideal mechanic will be able to complete repairs efficiently, is someone who remains attentive during repairs, and is resourceful as issues arise.

Knowledgeable. A strong technical aptitude is one of the most important skills for our mechanics. Additionally, we encourage our mechanics to stay up to date on the constantly changing state of the industry, tools, and machinery that evolve with it.


What You’ll Bring…


Required Qualifications:


· Excellent mechanical skills.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Extensive knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine repair.

· Extensive knowledge of vehicle, truck, and heavy equipment repair.


· Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.

· Ability to read service and repair manuals.

· Ability to use hand and power tools.

· Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to maintain service record database and track inventory.

· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Diesel or Automotive vocational or college certification degree in auto or heavy equipment mechanics
ASE certifications. Must continue to hold valid ASE certifications to maintain standing in the current pay range
Welding and fabrication experience
Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic ability with demonstrated mechanical skill in the methods, materials, tools and standard trade practices of the automotive and heavy-duty repair industry
Complete knowledge of the principles of internal combustion engines, electronic systems, and power systems.
Ability to learn and keep up on current journey level knowledge of the technical standards and procedures and ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and schematics and apply their contents to solving mechanical maintenance problems
Reliable and punctual attendance
Proficient with computers and mobile devices (iPhone and iPad), knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, internet browsers and Windows
Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times
Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities and sometimes conflicting deadlines


Education and Experience:


· High school diploma or equivalent required.


Preferred Qualifications:


· Five years of related experience preferred.


· Vocational or technical school training preferred.


Work Schedule:


· Full-time


· Monday through Friday


· Weekends as needed

· This position requires travel to various job sites to perform work as needed.

Work Environment:

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to physically perform repairs.

· Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.


· Good vision to inspect repair work.

· Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
