Position Summary
Under general supervision performs skilled repair work in overhauling, repairing and maintaining a wide variety of diesel and gasoline powered automotive, stationary engine/power generation, and earth- moving construction equipment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
• Perform preventative maintenance on trucks, construction equipment, trailers, generators and small equipment.
• Perform all general repairs typically found on a preventative maintenance inspections.
• Inspects and makes visual and mechanical tests of vehicles or equipment to determine the nature and extent of repairs needed. May use electronic diagnostic equipment.
• Adjusts, aligns, or replaces chassis parts, such as steering assemblies, brakes, wheels and axles.
• Performs maintenance and repair of stationary engine and power generation equipment.
• Maintains tools and equipment in proper condition by cleaning, sharpening and oiling; keeps work area in a neat and orderly condition.
• Perform related work as required.
In addition to the above, the Fleet Sr. Mechanic will all be responsible for:
• Assist in training personnel in standard job methods and procedures, proper use of tools and equipment, and safe working practices.
• Perform DOT inspections in accordance to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
• Must be able to perform safety sensitive functions.
