Job Description
The Finance Business Manager works with Trading and Energy Supply Merchant commercial representatives to identify fit for purpose second line of defense processes to ensure complete portfolio integrity. This person supports the team responsible for quantitative risk modeling and model risk management associated with Puget Sound Energy's wholesale energy procurement. Responsibilities include reporting daily risk exposure and market analytics, collaborating with teams responsible for new asset acquisitions and developing valuation models for optimization of Puget Sound Energy's assets. The market risk function has responsibility to track energy procurement plans and risk management mandates to ensure approved hedging activities for the natural gas and power portfolios are properly recorded, valued, and reported.

Job Responsibilities
•Supports the Market Risk and Analytics function as the second line of defense in identifying, managing, and mitigating commercial risk to the organization.
•Is an end-to-end deal expert, understanding risk at all parts during the life of a deal, interacting with functional experts to help identify and suggest remediations to those risks.
•Engages in actively managing resources and processes to optimize the efficient analysis of risk across the portfolio, manage change, and prioritize appropriately.
•Develops and maintains models and tools used for position and asset valuation, credit risk management, and risk exposure assessments.
•Builds and owns reports and analyzes data to identify risk and opportunities and makes recommendations.
•Produces presentations for Trading and Energy Supply Merchant customers, Finance organization management, and the Board of Directors on energy portfolio risk and performance.
•Drives process excellence for the analyst team, identifying bottlenecks in risk processes; ensures that error-checking is a natural part of all processes, so output is correct the first time.
•Assists in the development and enforcement of the requirements of Puget Sound Energy's Risk Policy, Hedging Policy, and associated procedure manuals.
•Supports requests from other internal business functions and third-party auditors to fulfill data requests.
•Oversees ad hoc requests for model development related to the risk management and marketing of natural gas, power, and generation fuel.
•Assists the Manager of Market Risk and Analytics in driving a vision for the analyst team to aspire to and define a clear path to get there, with milestone achievement steps along the way.
•Continually improves analytical capabilities via internal and external networking and staying current on innovations in financial metrics and techniques.
•Leads the analyst team in the delivery of recommendations resulting from quantitative and qualitative analyses.
•Anticipates and identifies areas of opportunity or inherent business risks evident in the data and communicates action plans to management.
•Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
•Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field
•7+ years in finance roles with progressively increasing levels of responsibility preferably with time in the utility industry
•Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management
•Ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and takes initiative to drive solutions; works effectively without direct supervision in a fast paced, stressful and multitasking environment
Desired Qualifications
•Master's Degree in a quantitative field or MBA
•Applicable Finance Certification (CFA, CPA, CTP)
•5+ years of experience in the gas and/or electric industry
•Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and create capacity
•Ability to anticipate unique business decisions and situations and respond accordingly
•Experience leading and delivering projects under tight deadlines
•Work experience in a supervisory role

The pay range for this position is $104,500.00 - $174,100.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
