The Safety Coordinator plays a pivotal role in upholding Miller Bros Solar's safety-first culture. This position focuses on delivering comprehensive training programs, conducting thorough site audits, and supporting field teams during high-travel assignments. With a preference for candidates experienced in substation environments, you will travel extensively (up to 75% of the time) to project sites, ensuring all activities align with OSHA, NERC, and industry best practices. - Training Delivery
: Develop and lead safety training sessions for field technicians, installers, and subcontractors, covering topics such as electrical hazards, fall protection, PPE usage, and emergency response. Customize programs for solar farm and substation-specific risks, with a focus on hands-on simulations and e-learning modules.
- Site Audits and Inspections
: Perform regular on-site safety audits at active solar construction sites, including pre-construction walkthroughs, daily hazard assessments, and post-incident reviews. Document findings, recommend corrective actions, and verify compliance with safety protocols.
- Travel and Field Support
: Travel nationwide to support multiple projects simultaneously, providing real-time safety guidance, toolbox talks, and incident investigations. Coordinate with project managers to integrate safety into daily operations.
- Compliance and Reporting
: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA 1910/1926, NERC CIP standards). Prepare detailed reports on audit outcomes, training metrics, and safety performance for senior leadership.
- Risk Management
: Identify potential hazards in high-voltage environments, such as substations and grid interconnections, and collaborate on mitigation strategies. Support the development of site-specific safety plans and emergency procedures.
- Continuous Improvement
: Analyze safety data trends, contribute to policy updates, and foster a culture of proactive risk awareness through regular communication and feedback loops.
- Education
: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience
: Minimum 3–5 years in safety coordination or similar roles within construction, renewable energy, or utilities.
- Preferred
: 2+ years of hands-on experience in substations, including familiarity with high-voltage safety protocols, arc flash hazards, and NERC compliance.- Certifications
: OSHA 30-Hour (Construction/General Industry), CSP (Certified Safety Professional), or equivalent preferred. Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively required.
