GeoSystems Analysis, Inc. (GSA) is seeking a full time salaried scientist to join our growing environmental consulting firm in our Tucson, AZ office. The position consists of up to 50% fieldwork with travel predominantly in the western US, Mexico, and South America. Field tasks primarily include maintenance and installation of monitoring instruments, soil and water sampling, and geologic logging. Non-field work related duties will be based in GSA's Tucson, AZ office and laboratory. Office tasks may include (depending on experience): data analysis, modeling, technical writing, and/or GIS. Laboratory tasks include determining basic soil parameters, conducting saturated and unsaturated hydraulic conductivity testing, and construction and calibration of monitoring instruments.
- BS or MS in Soil Science, Hydrology, Geology, Geosciences, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or other Natural Sciences field
- Proactive, eager to learn, and hard working
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word)
- Experience working in a scientific or commercial laboratory
- Data analysis skills
- Independent problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Willingness to travel up to 50%
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to work in extreme environments (infrequently)
- Databases and programming (Python, MySQL, Access, Campbell Scientific)
- Hand and power tool experience
- Building and/or mechanical experience
