As a Fabrication Technician - Welding Specialist, you will be responsible for utilizing your expertise in welding techniques to fabricate and assemble metal components according to specifications. Your role will primarily involve interpreting blueprints, selecting appropriate welding methods, and executing precise welds to ensure the structural integrity and quality of fabricated products. You will work closely with engineering teams and management to understand project requirements and contribute to the efficient production of metal structures and equipment. Attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and a commitment to producing high-quality welds are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to understand project requirements.

Select and set up welding equipment, including gas metal arc welding (MIG), tungsten inert gas welding (TIG), based on project specifications.

Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, cutting, and shaping as necessary to ensure proper weld penetration and adhesion.

Perform welding operations with precision and accuracy to join metal components according to prescribed procedures and standards.

Inspect welds for defects, such as cracks, voids, or porosity, and make necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot welding-related issues and optimize fabrication processes.

Maintain a clean and organized work area, including routine maintenance of welding equipment and tools.

Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents and ensure a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in welding preferred.

Proven experience as a welder, with proficiency in various welding processes and techniques.

Strong understanding of metal fabrication principles and practices.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.

Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality welds with minimal rework.

Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
