Job Title: ManufacturingProduction Supervisor Reports To: Manufacturing Department Manager

For Department(s): Spot Welding, MIG Welding, MIG Robot, Press Brake, Flat Laser, Tube Laser, Turret, Wire Forming
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for the supervision of the department employees and operations, including creating ownership, urgency, accountability for each role in your department and set up of machinists; along with promoting high work-place morale and ethical standards. Assists the management team in meeting or exceeding goals and objectives.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
•Works with managers to monitor metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in their department such as: Safety, On-Time Delivery, Quality, Productivity, Overtime, and Opportunities for Improvement (OFI).
•Works with setup personnel on decreasing setup times as well as how to improve quality in the department. Improve quality in the department by implementing quality assurance procedures such as: mistake-proofing setups and utilizing check fixtures.
•Provides necessary feedback, or training, to individual team members in order to achieve labor rates.
•Establishes standards of accountability for team members. Works to document and follow disciplinary process when necessary. Assists other supervisors and managers in holding their team members accountable.
•Responsible for creating a workplace with high morale; upholding the highest ethical standards. Is a leader by example; creates a positive culture of teamwork within the workplace.
•Communicates to team members daily, through Huddle Meetings; department achievements, awards, job expectations, company announcements, MMP Core Values, and department SOPs. Coaches employees to give their best and to work together.
•Monitors workflow by ensuring quality and productivity goals are met and that the team is on track to meet the daily schedule.
•Identifies OFIs (Opportunities for Improvement) and implements continuous improvements.
•Takes immediate actions on Red Tagged parts for disposition or rework. Issues, or responds to CARs (Corrective Action Requests) by finding Root Causes and establishes preventative actions to eliminate recurrence of rejects over the long term.
•Ensures equipment, tooling and fixtures are performing in optimal condition by scheduling maintenance and repairs as required in Brightly CMMS.
•Attends company-sponsored training (i.e., external, In-house, web/computer based, etc.). Maintains updated knowledge of product and industry trends, and methods.
•Reviews, inputs, and analyzes daily labor reports, quality control, rework, maintenance, and scheduling reports to determine causes of nonconformities.
•Maintains cleanliness and organization both during and after job completion. Complies with 5S standards and evaluation. Provides feedback and training to team members on 5S requirements.
•Works overtime when needed.
•Resolves personnel problems quickly and professionally, following the MMP Employee Handbook, and utilizes HR to identify solutions or implement disciplinary actions for the personnel file.
•Performs related duties as assigned or required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Training: BS/BA degree, or demonstrated knowledge of Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or related field.
Experience: Experience with process improvement methodologies (Lean Manufacturing, 5S, etc) to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Ability to use a PC, in-house software, and Microsoft Office products to effectively administrate and organize departmental objectives.
Prior steel fabrication supervision, and/or background. Strong mechanical aptitude.
Familiarity with standard tools and units of measurement.
Knowledge and Skills: US Citizen, or Resident Alien Card, with the ability to speak English.
Ability to foster a close working relationship with team members and management.
Strong interpersonal skills and a self-starter.
Good understanding of mechanical and standardized processes.
Ability to use problem solving methods and techniques to resolve problems successfully and efficiently.
Well organized. Ability to work well under pressure, managing competing demands and meeting tight deadlines with strong follow through.
Unlimited, or unimpaired ability to walk; bend; stoop; climb; and lift up to 70 lbs.
Capacity to work as a member of a team, or by oneself to achieve desired results.
Ability to safely operate a variety of stationary or portable hand and power tools.
Ability to read, comprehend and utilize work orders, prints, CAD and technical drawings, labor reports, and any numerical data related to effectively managing department outcomes.
Basic math, especially fractions; ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Understanding of piece-rate incentive.
Ability to use a PC to manipulate Global Shop software data related to job scheduling, job tracking, labor, and time/attendance data.
Knowledge of machinery fabrication, principals, and practices.
Knowledge of measurement equipment and techniques.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Seeing: Must be able to read reports, use computer, see in dimly lit/confined spaces, read a tape measure or other measuring device.
Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, identify machine sounds
