The Nunavut Exploration group has been exploring Nunavuts’ vast landscape for over a decade. The group is responsible for the development of Nunavuts’ properties and operates in an exceptional geological environment, conducive to world-class discoveries. Reporting to the Exploration General Supervisor, the Exploration Coordinator is part of the Exploration team and works on all our exploration activities on the Hope Bay Project, Nunavut. The incumbent will play an important role in managing the Exploration team and programs, supervising and participating in drill hole planning, geological interpretation and 3D modelling, exploration target generation, core logging/sampling, contribute to overall geological knowledge, they will ensure compliance with QA/QC protocols and prepare reports. They will ensure that objectives are met in accordance with Agnico Eagle’s culture, health & safety and environment standards.
•Work closely with senior management to plan and implement exploration programs.
•Manage exploration drill programs with 6 (or more) diamond drill rigs.
•Direct and document field studies, 3D-modeling, geological interpretation and laboratory testing.
•Import assay results into databases and models. Ensure QA/QC protocols are respected.
•Create, validate and implement various operating procedures.
•Create Scope of Work (SOW) and Request for Proposals (RFPs) for upcoming programs, track invoices and contractor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
•Contribute to weekly, monthly, quarterly, press release report, corporate presentation, and annual exploration reviews preparation.
•Participate in employee evaluations and facilitate training and mentoring.
•Ensure the effective transfer of information between shifts.
•Daily visits to work sites, drill sites, core logging facilities, core cutting facilities to ensure safe operations by workers.
•Ensure all Agnico Eagle’s Health & Safety and Environmental policies are always respected by all employees and contractors at all work sites.
•Collaborate with internal departments and external contractors to ensure the safe and efficient execution of planned exploration activities.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
•Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geological Engineering.
•A minimum of 7 years of exploration experience.
•Background and knowledge of gold-related metallogeny, structural geology, geochemistry, and geophysics within Archean terrain is an asset.
•Must be a member of a Professional Association in a Canadian province or territory.
•Knowledge of Leapfrog Geo, Datamine, DHLogger/Fusion and ArcGIS.
•Database management: SQL and/or python considered an asset.
•Experience working in a multicultural environment in the arctic considered an asset.
•Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to lead and to work in a team.
•Must have good organizational skills and problem-solving ability.
•Strong commitment to Health and Safety.
•Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications.
•Ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written).
•Perform all other related tasks.
Your Work Schedule:
•Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from Edmonton, Alberta, or Yellowknife, NWT.
•Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from Hope Bay Project and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
