WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday (between the hours of 6AM - 2:30 PM)
WORK LOCATION: 4038 E Superior Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85040
The Entry-Level Estimator supports the estimating and preconstruction team by assisting with material take-offs, vendor and subcontractor quoting, and the preparation of accurate and timely project estimates for electrical construction projects. This role plays a key part in ensuring bids are complete, competitive, and aligned with company gross margin and profitability goals.
The Estimator E1 will work closely with Lead and Senior Estimators to review plans and specifications, analyze project scope, generate RFIs, and assist with cost analysis using estimating software and industry standards. This position is designed for individuals looking to build a strong foundation in electrical estimating while developing a broad understanding of construction processes, pricing strategies, and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Lighting take-off including fixtures, controls and branch circuitry
- Power device take-off
- Create RFI’s (per LE’s request) and submit to client through Building Connected or direct email
- Able to review project drawings and specifications and understand scope of project
- Request quotes as needed – able to discuss the project scope with vendors and subcontractors
- Review quotes from vendors and subcontractors to verify accuracy (inclusions / exclusions)
- Remaining compliant with McCormick Standards and any changes in those standards
- Fill in for Estimating Coordinator – when that individual is out on leave (See EC – HPA’s)
- Assist Estimating Supervisor – on an as needed basis
- Participate in Estimating department process building and development
- Learn processes and work instructions
- Self-educate when possible – learn all parts of construction
- Work with Lead Estimators to complete review process.
- Submit methods, ideas to Senior Estimator for streamlining any specific Estimating processes
- Work with Senior Estimator and Estimating Team to update Database (Assemblies, Items, Take-off procedures, etc.)
- Participate in weekly Bid Meetings and Monthly Preconstruction group meetings.
- Ask questions and respect other team members time
- Perform job walks, as requested or required, and fill out job walk form completely – per FSE (Facility Services Estimator)
- Assist FSE with Takeoff, RFI’s, anything the FSE requests
- Assist Account Managers if needed in takeoff, site walks, etc.
- Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and accuracy

- Strong service orientation
- High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required
- Entry-level estimating, electrical estimating, or construction estimating experience preferred
- Hands-on field experience in electrical or construction is highly valued and may be required if estimating experience is not present
- Candidates with prior estimating experience may not be required to have direct field experience; however, field exposure is still considered a strong advantage
- Candidates without estimating experience must demonstrate practical, hands-on field experience in construction or electrical work
- Ability to sit or stand at a desk for long hours when working in the office
- Ability to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity equipment
- Ability to lift 20 pounds as needed in routine activities associated with position
- Ability to wear PPE when working/visiting a project location
- Ability to work in extreme heat when working/visiting a project location
- Ability to move safely over uneven terrain when working/visiting a project location
