The Estimators main function is to assist the Sales Team with the development of new customers, custom cold and hot stamping tooling, required low volume stamping engineered products and sub-assemblies. Prior to starting the quote process, the Estimating Engineer will partner with the Sales Team to ensure that all the proper information is provided to evaluate the opportunity and complete an initial assessment to ensure that it is an opportunity for the company.
- Reviews general project information to ensure that it is a good fit for capabilities of the DTG facilities or is an ideal candidate to develop a new core competence.
- Open and evaluate CAD to get basic data information to complete previous bulleted item.
- Ensures all engineering standards and expectations are clearly defined and included.
- Determines if it is a strategic opportunity or high probability target that should process through the full feasibility review/quote process and an indication process for budgetary proposals that require more information, or if it is not a strategic opportunity.
- Leads the estimating process for new items and items that required revisions to the part or process. Proposals are to be developed using a detailed cost-based analysis of the materials and manufacturing process steps to manufacture the components. Once final pricing is set, the Estimator will work with the Sales Team to formally present the proposal to the customer and complete the structured sales process.
