The Estimator prepares quotes and proposals for customers based on customer requirements, cost of materials, design requirements, and production requirements.
· Prepares cost estimates for customers by obtaining and analyzing information, specifications, and blueprints provided by customers, identifying cost of materials, and evaluating design and production requirements.
· Reviews customer specifications, identifies additional information needed from customer to provide accurate cost estimates, and communicates with customers concerning specifications and cost estimates.
· Interfaces with design and production departments concerning design and production requirements for special and/or custom orders, interfaces with engineering team concerning metallurgical requirements impacting job cost.
· Interprets and applies pricing information based on customer specifications.
· When applicable, handles incoming calls from prospective customers, provides information about company capabilities, and gathers information necessary to quote jobs.
- Assists with other projects, as needed, performs other duties as assigned.
- Follows the code of conduct and policies defined in the employee handbook.
· Ability to comprehend, interpret and apply complex pricing information.
· Ability to identify specific and/or specialized project requirements impacting cost and customer pricing.
· Ability to work under pressure in order to meet customer deadlines.
· Ability to communicate professionally, effectively and courteously with customers and prospective customers.
· Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
· Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office and cost software.
The physical demands described below must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer; intermittent standing and walking.
· Dexterity is mandatory as this job requires frequent use of hands and fingers.
· Will be required to talk, hear, and see. Vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and ability to differentiate between colors.
· Occasional lifting and moving of up to 20 lbs.
· This position is primarily performed in an office setting.
