We currently seeking an individual to join our team as a Project Estimator, based out of Grande Prairie, AB.
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase of projects, utilizing their expertise in construction estimating to provide accurate and competitive bids. This position requires strong analytical skills, effective negotiation abilities, and proficiency in industry-standard software.
Responsibilities
•Thoroughly review all RFP/RFQs packages including drawings, specifications, contracts, and other client documents/requirements.
•Draft cost estimates with collaboration from our project management and construction teams.
•Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and negotiate contracts.
•Prepare project cost based on client quantities or by quantifying the scope based on the drawings and specifications.
•Maintain electronic records of estimate packages, and communications with clients, third party vendors, and subcontractors.
•Ensure bid submissions include all requirements and are accurate.
•Create schedules and execution plans for bid submission.
•Review and adjust estimates based on changes in project scope or specifications
•Prepare risk assessment and determine appropriate methods to mitigate risk.
•Submit any pre-bid questions and respond to post-bid clarifications.
•Support project teams with estimates for change orders.
•Where applicable, seek input with various internal departments pertaining to the project.
•Work closely with clients, engineers, and industry contacts.
•Perform multiple estimates during the same time frame.
•Participate in mandatory pre-bid or site meetings.
Qualifications/Skills
•Minimum of 3+years of relevant estimating experience, preferably in the utility industry.
•Expertise in reviewing construction documents, drawings, standards, and contracts.
•Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with vendors and subcontractors.
•Strong computer skillset and experience with MS Office and other IT applications.
•Attention to detail and strong analytical skills to ensure accuracy in all estimates.
•Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
•Skilled at managing multiple priorities concurrently, ensuring all estimates are completed on schedule.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
