The Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed, accurate, and competitive cost estimates for both public and private bid opportunities. In this role, the Estimator evaluates project requirements, conducts thorough quantity takeoffs, solicits pricing from subcontractors, and develops comprehensive cost models that encompass labor, materials, equipment, overhead, and profit. Supporting both general construction and electrical scopes, the Estimator also coordinates with additional trades as necessary to ensure the delivery of complete and compliant bid submissions.
· Review all bid documents, including drawings, specifications, addenda, and contract terms, to fully understand project scope and requirements.
· Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for both general construction and electrical aspects of projects.
· Develop comprehensive cost estimates that account for labor, materials, equipment, subcontracted work, overhead, contingencies, and profit.
· Solicit, evaluate, and level quotes from subcontractors and suppliers across multiple trades to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
· Identify any gaps in scope, assess risks, and propose value-engineering opportunities to enhance project competitiveness and efficiency.
· Coordinate with project management, engineering, and operations teams to validate estimating assumptions and ensure alignment with project needs.
· Prepare bid clarifications, alternates, and exclusions as necessary to address specific project requirements or uncertainties.
· Assist with post-bid reviews and facilitate the handoff of successful projects to the operations team for execution.
· Maintain historical cost data and update estimating databases to support future bid accuracy and efficiency.
· Ensure compliance with public-sector and prevailing wage bid requirements when applicable, supporting all necessary documentation and processes.
· Four to ten or more years of experience in estimating for general construction, electrical, or multi-trade projects.
· Strong understanding of construction means and methods.
· Proficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam, Excel, Accubid, Sage, or comparable tools.
· Ability to accurately interpret construction documents and specifications.
· Experience with public-sector, campus, or institutional construction projects.
· Familiarity with prevailing wage requirements, M/WBE (Minority/Women Business Enterprise), and bid compliance standards.
· Background in electrical estimating combined with experience in coordinating multiple trades.
