Title: Environmental Technician Trainee

The Opportunity

- Environmental Technician at a growth-oriented energy company

- Work with a cohesive team to serve a small community

- Reporting to the Enviromental Supervisor, you will be responsible for responsible for assisting in the compliance of environmental regulations primarily pertaining to Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). Will be qualified to manage both non-hazardous and hazardous wastes in the field. Maintains compliance records and generates reports. Performs field work associated with the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act regulations.


Key Activities Include

- Conducts fugitive emission inspections at required frequencies on all applicable Refinery valves, pumps and drains. Assists with verifying repairs for inspection findings and generates reports as necessary. Maintains inspection records for equipment and equipment tags.

- Conducts tank seal inspections at required frequencies, as directed.

- Inspect satellite waste accumulation areas weekly and fill in satellite inspection log sheets.

- Manage residuals generated in each satellite accumulation area. This entails collecting and transferring residuals from the satellite accumulation areas to staging areas.

- Prepare residuals for transportation to offsite disposal facilities. This entails loading and unloading containers, roll-off boxes, supersacks, drums and weighing of them. Loading of bulk solids with equipment (e.g. with hoptoes or forklifts), as required.

- Sample collection.

- Conduct routine monitoring of stacks (EPA Method 9 readings), and maintain documentation

- Conduct routine visual inspections on process sewers, vac trucks, above ground lines, etc., as required.

- Prepare containers, rolloffs and drums for reuse. Proper disposal preparation for drums, not re-usable.

- Assists with waste management audits, environmental pollution field surveys, and practices good housekeeping.

- Assists in implementing special projects in the field

- Regular schedule includes weekends, holidays and on call 24/7 for emergencies.

- Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

Additional Qualifications Include

- High School Diploma or equivalent required

- Minimum two years’ experience in manufacturing/maintenance type of environment

- Previous experience with environmental regulations desired

- Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License

- Must maintain active Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

Hiring Range

The hiring range for this position is $42.28 to $44.11 per hour. The candidate selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
