About the Role
The Environmental Technician ensures that sampling and implementation of management plans is undertaken to maintain compliance with permit and project terms and conditions.
The Environmental Technician will foster a health and safety culture of Zero Harm while ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
This position works 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off, fly in & out.
Responsibilities
•Collects, monitors, surveys, and records environmental factors, including air and water quality, soil sample and salvage, wildlife and fish counts.
•Implementing Environmental Management Plans and work plans to ensure compliance, including reporting to supervisor any concerns with compliance.
•Conducts pre-construction bird sweeps and amphibian salvage, with support and direction from Environmental Coordinator.
•Assists in the operation and maintenance of equipment, including laboratory, field, and monitoring equipment.
•Reviewing and reporting on installation and effectiveness of erosion and sediment control measures.
•Communicates valuable information to team members and supervisor to work toward mitigating negative environmental impacts.
•Records data and observations in an accurate, well-organized manner to support the development of technical reports detailing monitoring activities.
•Reads maps and navigates variable terrain, including operating off-road vehicles.
•Identifies hazards, complies with safety policies, policies, and procedures, and promotes safety awareness through day-to-day attitudes and actions.
•Adjusts and establishes daily tasks to meet changing orders of priorities.
•Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Required
•Certificate or diploma in chemical, environmental or natural resource technology.
•Minimum of 2 years of experience with Environmental field work and sampling.
•Experience on industrial or mining sites
•Valid Class 5 BC driver's license or equivalent.
Preferred Skills
•Experience operating off-road vehicles and snowmobiles.
•Computer skills (Microsot Office – Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and database use).
•Strong safety focus and accountable, dependable, and responsible.
•Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to build positive and respectful relationships with a diverse workforce.
•Unwavering commitment to safety, environment, sustainability, diversity, and inclusion principles.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

•Knowledge and understanding of environmental and safety provincial and federal legislation; and safety and environmental standards and legislation pertaining to the mining industry.
•Adaptable to all office and outdoor work conditions, including exposure to elements such as snow, rain, sub-freezing weather, heat, and wind.
•Ability to work in a remote location and adapt to site-based work schedules.
Pay Range and Compensation Package
•$75,000 - $90,000 per annum
•Extended Medical Health/Dental/Vision 100% employer contributed
