Job Title: Environmental Supervisor
Reports To: Director of Environmental Services
Location: New Mexico – Various
OVERVIEW
The Environmental Supervisor is responsible for leading the development, implementation and oversight of environmental standards, systems, policies and procedures to ensure mining and processing operations comply with all applicable federal, state and local regulations. This role ensures the organization meets industry standards and provides a safe and compliant work environment.
JOB DUTIES
•Supervise, mentor and develop a team of environmental professionals and technicians
•Lead the development and maintenance of systems to ensure compliance with all environmental permits and regulations
•Serve as the company’s primary point of contact and subject matter expert for environmental compliance
•Represent the company during facility inspections and interactions with regulatory personnel
•Build and maintain positive professional relationships with government agencies and other external stakeholders
•Provide guidance to operations regarding best practice operational controls for environmental compliance
•Monitor, assess and report environmental performance, including non-conformances and corrective actions
•Develop and implement environmental audit functions and risk assessments
•Ensure all data, statistics and reports required by management and regulatory bodies are accurately compiled and submitted on time
•Manage budgets and costs related to the environmental department
•Support project development and permitting to ensure regulatory compliance
•Engage and coordinate third-party experts and contractors as needed
•Lead or participate in investigations of environmental incidents, implementing corrective actions and improvements
•Establish and monitor performance targets and key indicators (leading/lagging metrics) for environmental, safety and health (ES&H) objectives
•Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
•Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in environmental compliance, including supervisory roles
•Experience working with federal, state and local regulators
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and environmental data management/reporting systems
•Experience in developing and implementing environmental and occupational health management programs
•Strong verbal and written communication skills
•Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and regulatory data

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise a staff of approximately three (3) environmental professionals. Ensure professional development of staff to progress them in the ES&H field.
SCHEDULE AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
9/80 schedule, Monday – Thursday, 9-hour workdays, Fridays worked, 8-hour workday, with every other Friday off. Schedule subject to change. Call-out and after-hour work situations possible.
•Combination of outdoors, in a non-temperature controlled environment, and subject to weather conditions, and in an indoor, temperature-controlled office environment
•Exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels
•Employees are required to wear safety attire and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•Standing, walking, using hands, reaching with hands, climbing and stooping up to 2/3 of the time
•Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. – lifting will be required up to 1/3 of the time
•Must be able to climb and descend vertical ladders and stairs. The environment may consist of moving mechanical parts and high/precarious places
•Must be able to perceive color differences
•Will be required to wear personal protective equipment as needed
A pre-placement physical and hair follicle drug test will be required for anyone selected for this opportunity. Placement into the position will not be made until the results are received and cleared by Intrepid.
