Position Overview:
Support and coordinate programs and activities with respect to safety, security and environmental services for the Bridgeville, PA facility. As necessary, develop and implement ongoing safety programs to build and improve safety awareness at the facility. Proactively promote protection of human health and the environment by maintaining and exceeding regulatory compliance. Understand and continuously support the needs of the manufacturing departments, including frequent plant floor presence. Areas of responsibility include compliance for air emissions, wastewater effluent, workplace safety, industrial hygiene, hazardous waste, emergency response, security, transportation of hazardous materials, and risk management.
Specific Responsibilities:
Specific primary responsibilities are defined by the following, but not limited to:
•Develop and implement safety management systems, which include written standards, training requirements, monitoring/auditing elements and corrective action steps.
•Ensure prompt completion and required maintenance of facility environmental permits, including sampling, inspections, data management, report preparation and submission.
•Coach and train all department supervisors and managers on the EHS requirements. Assist departments with ongoing training needs to heighten the level of safety awareness.
•Oversees and manages preparation of all regulatory submittals to Governmental agencies. Function as the site leader for any local, state, or federal regulatory inspections.
•Oversee and ensure proper incident investigations for all injury, near miss, and property damage incidents. Assist department supervisors with proper investigations and development of effective and sustainable corrective actions.
•Track completion of corrective actions identified through audits or incident investigations.
•Ensure corporate goals and objectives are accurately monitored and measured for regular reporting and tracking.
•Function as the lead emergency response contact for any environmental, safety or security response activities. Ensure emergency response plans are in place and properly implemented including training for all personnel in positions of responsibility.
•Conduct periodic audits to evaluate compliance to established policies, procedures, and governmental regulations.
•Determine industrial hygiene needs and conduct necessary air and noise monitoring.
•Conduct new hire orientation training.
•Chair company safety committee.
•Drive the behavioral based safety observation program.
•Effectively manage and track the employee return to work program for all workplace injuries.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
•Ability to interpret and apply OSHA & EPA regulations.
•Experience interacting with local, state and federal regulatory agencies.
•Industrial Hygiene knowledge.
•Radiation safety experience.
•Experience with claim management and Workers Compensation Insurance.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to communicate successfully with multiple levels within an organization.
•Strong organizational skills.
Education and Experience:
•B.S. Degree in Safety Management/Environmental Science.
•3 years of safety/environmental experience.
•Previous experience in the metals industry or heavy manufacturing is strongly preferred.
