Responsibilities:
•Develop, implement, and revise Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations (to include but not limited to the MEMA, Maine DEP, EPA, DOT, Maine DOL, and OSHA).
•Provide a routine shop presence to promote a proactive HSE culture, technical guidance, and support in efforts to mitigate/eliminate risk and lower incident rates.
•Communicate the HSE Policy, Global Goals and Objectives, and local initiatives to aid in continuous improvement of the overall HSE performance of the facility.
•Ensure new personnel receive documented HSE training in accordance with the Global and local HSE Procedural Requirements.
•Plan, write and deliver safety training programs that will ensure proficiency in safe practices for all personnel and contractors in accordance with company, regulatory and ISO 14001/45001 requirements.
•Maintain training records for all employees through data entry into training matrix spreadsheet, scan and upload records to local file storage and electronic database.
•Aid in the creation of, or updates to, Lockout Tagout procedures for all machine resources and facility equipment. Aid in the creation of, or updates to hazard mitigation/elimination tools such as but not limited to department Risk Assessments, Job Safety Analysis, and SWOT Analysis.
•Overall management of HSESM program including but not limited to appropriate incident response, documentation, investigation, and preventative actions.
•Work closely with HR regarding workers compensation cases including aiding in the management of fit for duty/return to work.
•Representation as Facility Auditee for internal and external ISO 14001/ISO 45001, SHARP and DEP audits, inspections, and site visits.
•Maintain records of internal and external facility HSE audits, input any findings into HSE Corrective Action application, and assist with follow-up on open corrective actions.
•Create HSE Meeting Topics and facilitate regular communication of information with the management team and all employees, as applicable. Such information may include companywide lessons learned accumulating from incident investigations and HSE trends occurring industry wide.
•Oversee overall compliance with hazardous and non-hazardous waste operations to include but not limited to scheduling of disposal pickups, updating waste tracker to ensure generation status compliance and maintaining records of waste manifest.
•Ensure compliance of contractors/suppliers in accordance with ISO 14001/45001 and companywide standards.
•Ensure first aid cabinets and duffle bags are fully replenished weekly, or as needed. Assist with, and/or ensure completion of, monthly facility compliance audits, eye wash station, fire extinguisher, fire suppression, AEDs, ladders, ASTs/emergency exit signs, emergency lighting, overhead crane, forklift, fall protection, scissor lifts, hazardous waste container storage and hazardous waste satellite accumulation inspections.
•Work closely with the Operations Management team to ensure HSE involvement and support is provided to ensure compliance with the applicable regulations.
•Ensure compliance and maintain both SWPPP/SPCC programs by working closely Operations Representative.
•Regular communication with Corporate HSE Team on HSE related events such as incident notification and management, non-conformances, KPIs, and other pertinent related information.
Expectations:
•OSHA 10-hour and or OSHA 30-hour General Industry

Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:
•Must have a valid driver’s license and record that conforms to company’s insurance policies.
Work Environment / Conditions:
•This position will require working primarily indoors in a smoke-free office and manufacturing (machine shop) environment. On occasion it may require the employee to be outdoors. Minimal travel will be required.
•While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to handle files, computers, and phones; reach with hands and arms; stoop, and kneel. Frequent and regular repetitive movements are required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
