Hycroft Mining Holding Corporation is a US-based gold and silver mining company, which operates its wholly owned Hycroft open pit, gold, and silver mine located an hour southwest of Winnemucca, Nevada.
As an Environmental Engineer, you will lead innovative environmental engineering projects and initiatives at our mining facility. Your role will involve ensuring environmental compliance and driving continuous improvement efforts. You will provide technical guidance to junior staff, foster their growth, and collaborate with regulatory agencies to maintain adherence to standards.
Your expertise will be crucial in conducting investigations and root cause analyses for environmental incidents. You will prepare detailed environmental reports for regulatory bodies and work closely with cross-functional teams on diverse environmental projects. Additionally, you will contribute to developing policies and procedures to enhance departmental standards and proactively review records to identify and address potential issues. You will also ensure the seamless integration of environmental considerations into mine planning, promoting sustainable practices that minimize environmental impact.
· Conduct environmental assessments and impact studies to identify, analyze, and mitigate potential environmental risks.
· Develop and implement strategies, plans, and procedures to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and address environmental concerns.
· Evaluate and adopt technologies and practices to minimize environmental risks and enhance sustainability.
· Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to design and implement effective environmental initiatives.
· Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams on environmental compliance and best practices.
· Perform field inspections and audits to evaluate environmental performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
· Prepare and review regulatory reports, permits, and documentation to ensure compliance with environmental laws.
· Stay informed on emerging environmental regulations, trends, and technologies to propose innovative solutions.
· Work with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental considerations into project planning and decision-making.
· Lead environmental projects from concept to completion, managing budgets and resources effectively.
· Analyze laboratory data, perform quality control checks, and enter data into Monitor Pro 5 and other environmental databases.
· Maintain strong working relationships with other departments and external consultants to support Hycroft’s environmental goals.
· Communicate effectively with site personnel to promote information sharing and ensure environmental compliance.
· Support future permitting projects for the mine site.
· Respond to environmental incidents on-site as needed, including on-call availability.
· Meet or exceed performance expectations established by management.
· Exercise discretion and sound judgment in all job duties.
· Perform work safely, minimizing risks to self and others.
· Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Environmental Manager.
· Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
· At least 3 years of field experience as an environmental engineer, preferably in a senior or leadership role.
· Self-motivated, trustworthy, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
· In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance standards, including federal EPA regulations, waste management, and air quality standards.
· Proficiency in environmental modeling software, data analysis tools, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
· Demonstrated experience conducting environmental impact and risk assessments.
· Expertise in implementing sustainable practices and technologies to mitigate environmental risks.
· Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
· Excellent analytical and critical-thinking skills to address complex environmental challenges.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
· Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
· HAZWOPER, RCRA, Method 9, and DOT certifications for waste inspections and disposal preferred.
· Experience with potable water is a plus.
· Adhere to all safety and environmental policies and procedures.
· Demonstrate a strong commitment to safe work practices.
· Proactively observe, correct, and report unsafe conditions to ensure a safe work environment.
· Follow operational procedures and comply with all regulatory requirements.
