The Environmental Engineer I will be responsible for the environmental department’s major activities including planning, evaluation and implementation of reclamation activities. The Environmental Engineer I will also be responsible for permitting/reporting and compliance requirements.
- Able to meet the physical demands of the position according to the Physical Demands Analysis
- Supervise, coordinate and implement programs necessary for compliance with permits and regulations
- Responsible for reclamation success and bond release evaluation and implementation
- Supervise, implement, report and permit programs in the area(s) of technical expertise as assigned (groundwater, climate, geology, soils, wildlife, reclamation, air quality, hazardous materials, etc.)
- Research and development of new programs and techniques as they may apply to compliance, reclamation, planning, evaluation and bond release
- Represent the company in inter-company and regulatory issues and issues involving permitting (i.e. GAGMO, WMA subcommittee).
- Respond to operations request for assistance in areas of technical expertise
- Develop, implement and update company manuals and compliance plans (i.e. Environmental Procedures Manual, SPCC plans, etc).
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Maintain confidentiality with sensitive issues
- Special projects as directed
- Other assignments and projects
- Travel between mine sites
