Located in Temecula, Utility Design Services Inc. is looking to add a full-time Rodman/Chainman to our rapidly growing team!

Our dynamic California based company has been providing quality survey and mapping services to utility and telecommunication companies for over 12 years, and our Temecula office is looking to add professionally minded individuals to our team. Our skilled Rodmen work closely with an experienced Field Survey Technician to provide survey services for utility and telecommunication companies. This position requires everyday travel throughout Southern California which may include overtime.

Essential Functions:

- Daily travel and outside field duties with survey team gathering data and equipment setup

- Ensuring the safety of crew members, clients, and the public

- Ensuring company vehicle and equipment are cleaned and kept organized weekly

- Ensuring that all equipment needed is loaded, properly maintained, and ready to use

- Communicating any equipment and supply issues to the Survey Technician and/or Survey Manager

- Maintaining adequate supplies in the truck and carrying survey supplies during the collection of necessary survey data

- Clearing land or line for data collection and holding the prism pole for measurements

- May drive to and from jobsites thereby freeing Field Survey Technician to study job packets

- Directing all questions from the public to the Survey Technician and/or Survey Supervisor

- Responsible for loss prevention

- Other duties as assigned

Your Must Haves:

- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record

- Willingness to work overtime

- Willingness to travel to work on out-of-town projects with overnight hotel stays, but home on the weekends

- Technically oriented and good communication skills

- Ability to maintain a professional image and client anonymity

- Comfortable working outdoors in variable weather conditions for extended periods of time

- Land survey, utility, or construction knowledge or interest in learning

- Be 21 years or older, as this role may drive a company vehicle

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

- This job operates in outside environments under variable weather conditions and may be responsible for driving a company vehicle

- Frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear

- Occasionally required to sit

- Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity for company equipment

- Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl

- Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather)

- Occasionally work in high, precarious places

- Frequent exposure to outside weather conditions

- While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderately loud depending on traffic and/or outside noise conditions

- The employee must occasionally lift and /or move more than 50 pounds

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Close vision; Distance vision; Color vision; Peripheral vision; Depth perception and ability to adjust focus

- This position operates in outside environments under variable weather conditions, which if severe enough, may result in partial or full day(s) of time off due to those natural conditions outside of company control

- Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used: A company vehicle may be assigned in this role, so a clean driving record is required for this position
