We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Technical Writer with a strong understanding of high-powered systems to join our team. You will be responsible for creating clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation that explains complex engineering concepts and system functionality to various audiences, including engineers, technicians, and end-users.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other subject matter experts to gather technical information, understand system functionality, and identify documentation needs for high-powered systems
- Develop and maintain a range of technical documentation, including:
- User Manuals: Clear and comprehensive guides for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting high-powered systems
- Installation Guides: Detailed instructions for setting up and configuring systems
- Maintenance Procedures: Step-by-step instructions for routine maintenance and repair tasks
- Technical Specifications: Detailed descriptions of system components, features, and performance specifications
- Test Plans and Reports: Documenting testing procedures, results, and analysis
- Troubleshooting Guides: Assisting users in identifying and resolving common system issues
- Translate complex technical concepts and jargon into easily understandable language for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ensure documentation adheres to established style guides, quality standards, and relevant regulatory requirements
- Work closely with engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure documentation is accurate and reflects the latest system design and functionality
- Incorporate visuals like diagrams, illustrations, and screenshots to enhance clarity and comprehension of technical information
- Manage documentation versions and updates, maintaining a clear revision history
- Participate in documentation reviews and incorporate feedback from technical experts and stakeholders
- Research and stay updated on industry best practices and evolving technologies related to technical writing and high-powered systems
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Communication, or a related field
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer, specifically documenting high-powered systems or complex engineering projects
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and concepts related to high-powered systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information clearly and concisely
- Proficiency with technical writing tools and software, such as GSuite, Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, Microsoft Word, LaTeX, and content management systems (CMS)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, error-free documentation
- Experience with specific high-powered system technologies (e.g., power electronics, industrial automation, specialized machinery)
- Experience with Agile development methodologies
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and certifications
