Overview
ECF Engineering Consultants is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Summer Intern to join our Building Services Group in West Palm Beach, FL. This is a paid internship opportunity for a student pursuing or planning to pursue a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, particularly with an interest in the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) field. Interns will work 20–40 hours per week during the summer, with flexible scheduling based on availability. This is an excellent opportunity for a student pursuing or planning to pursue a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering to gain practical experience in a professional setting.
As a Building Services Group Intern at ECF, you will gain experience with the project design process within the MEP field. You will be responsible for assisting design engineers with various tasks, which may include but are not limited to some light drafting related to HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. You will gain experience with drafting standards, project release procedures, and the software we use to process the projects (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit or similar BIM software):
- Assisting with the design of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for buildings.
- Performing calculations and analysis for building systems.
- Assisting with the preparation of drawings and specifications.
- Conducting site visits and surveys.
- Some light drafting using AutoCAD.
- Gaining experience with drafting standards and project release procedures.
- Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
- Must be at least a rising high school senior or attend an accredited college/university.
- Candidates should be planning to seek or be currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a focus on the MEP field.
- Candidates must have the ability to work in a standard office setting and operate standard office equipment, including a computer.
- Should have effective communication skills and the ability to pay attention to detail.
- Possess basic skills in Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus.
