This position supports the power generation fleet with a focus on high energy piping inspection as well as life management of critical pressure parts. This position will be filled based on experience and qualification. Individual normally works under close supervision on a variety of projects that have specific instructions and expected results.

Responsibilities:

- Primary responsibility will be ownership of the fleetwide High Energy Piping inspection program.

- Oversee budget, work scope planning, and contractor management for all onsite inspections.

- Evaluate inspection findings and develop repair plans when necessary.

- Participate in external industry research groups and apply learnings to internal work practices

- Identifies opportunities for improvement and/or suggests improved methods.

- Gathers, correlates, and analyses specific data using established procedures.

- Performs detailed and/or routine engineering assignments involving established calculations, tests, and analysis.

- Performs a variety of routine tasks to become familiar with the engineering methods, practices, and programs of the company.

- Supports operating and maintenance functions with problem identification, engineering analysis, and problem resolution activities.

- Prepares and presents reports giving conclusions of job related engineering activities.

- Assists other engineers with large projects, as needed.

- Assists with the development of goals, objectives, budgets, programs, and procedures.

- Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free work place. This includes periodic contractor safety management during onsite work activi

- Regularly reviews assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness.

- Occasionally directs the activities of coops, supervisors, and others as they perform various activities.

Qualifications:

Required Education

ABET Accredited Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology

Preferred Qualifications

- Ability to analyze and solve engineering problems from a business perspective.

- Working knowledge of pipe stress analysis, non-destructive examination techniques, and welding technology.

- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards related to boiler pressure parts and power piping in the generation industry.

- Ability to communicate across diverse project teams.

Attendance

Regular attendance is essential for satisfactory performance. Frequent local travel to plant locations is expected. Periodic overnight travel to training/industry conferences.

Work Conditions

Equally balanced between an office environment and field work. Field work will be performed in an industrial power plant environment and will require frequent walking and climbing. Regular exposure to elevated scaffold work platforms is expected.

Physical Effort

Primarily desk work with some standing and walking. Field work will require climbing and/or crawling to access inspection areas.
