JOB SUMMARY
The Employee Engagement Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and enhancing programs and initiatives that improve the overall experience of employees throughout their employment lifecycle. This role focuses on creating a positive, engaging, and productive work environment that fosters employee attraction, retention, and performance. The Employee Engagement Specialist is also responsible for supporting Hydro Ottawa’s Talent Management Framework through the development of strategies to increase brand awareness which includes participation in various talent focused events and the development of targeted talent attraction opportunities. The Employee Engagement Specialist will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure programs and events are aligned with company values and contribute to a positive employee experience. The Employee Engagement Specialist plays a pivotal role in fostering a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment within our company and serves as a resource for people leaders and HR Partners.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
•Contribute to the design and maintenance of a positive employee experience for all employees through the creation and delivery of engaging and supportive employee programs.
•Develop and coordinate employee experience programs aligned with Hydro Ottawa’s Talent Management Framework.
•Contribute to the development of talent attraction strategies that align to Hydro Ottawa’s Talent Management Framework by conducting research to identify trends, best practices, target audiences, and recommend corporate brand awareness opportunities.
•In collaboration with the Talent Management Specialist, develop content and campaigns that highlight the organization’s culture, values, and career opportunities.
•Plan and coordinate participation in various recruitment fairs and industry events; seek opportunities to continue to attract talent to the organization.
•Collaborate in the development and reporting of key performance indicators related to talent attraction, such as candidate quality, source effectiveness, and campaign performance.
•Identify and recommend innovative approaches to attract top talent in competitive labor markets by designing recruitment marketing campaigns to attract candidates and drive interest in open positions.
•Plan and coordinate a variety of employee events and activities and organize all aspects of event logistics including forecasting expenditures, developing venue recommendation, creating promotional materials, catering, entertainment, scheduling, etc.
•Develop and coordinate an employee feedback program that may include conducting surveys, focus groups, etc.
•Analyze employee engagement data and provide actionable insights to leadership.
•Collaborate with colleagues to design and support programs that enhance workplace culture, employee wellness, inclusion, career development and more.
•Support onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure smooth and positive transitions.
•Design, implement and administer recognition and reward programs that motivate and appreciate employees.
•Conduct research to stay updated on best practices and emerging trends related to employee engagement and experience, and talent management.
•Develop and/or update procedures, and processes as required.
•Perform other duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
•University degree in a related field such as Human Resources, Social Sciences, Education
•Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a similar role
•Proven knowledge and understanding of HR practices, talent management and employee engagement strategies
•Experience designing and coordinating corporate employee programs
•Experience in facilitating/leading engaging employee sessions both in-person and virtually
•Strong computer skills; proficient in the use of office productivity and collaboration tools, preferably G Suite and knowledge and experience with various performance and learning technologies and products
•Experience with Workday considered an asset
•Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP), or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation considered an asset
•Knowledge of the utility industry and electricity sector considered an asset
•English essential, both oral and written; Bilingual (French/English) or other languages considered an asset
This is a management group opportunity and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
Hydro Ottawa offers a Hybrid Work Model. Hybrid work is position specific, details of the hybrid model will be discussed with successful candidates.
