Electrician

Material Sciences Corporation (MSC) is an award-winning provider of metal solutions for a wide array of markets, including: automotive, consumer goods and construction. Our state-of-the-art Walbridge, Ohio facility has an immediate opening for a full-time Electrician to join our team. This position will service, maintain and repair plant electrical equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Completes electrical work designated on maintenance work orders assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

· Regularly inspects and records condition of electrical equipment including cranes, motors, generators, control panels, switches and circuit panels.

· Uses electrical test equipment, drawings, blueprints and schematics to install new equipment or diagnose problems with inoperative equipment.

· Modifies and improves existing equipment as instructed.

· Determines whether continuing function of equipment would be harmful to personnel or equipment and communicates such to supervisor.

· Determines root cause of electrical failures and repairs or replaces necessary components.

· Works with designated crews during emergency break downs to restore operation as quickly as possible.

· Works with inspectors and operational personnel to operate prime and finish ovens efficiently.

· Maintains housekeeping and performs all tasks safely in shop area and work sites.

· Orders replacement parts as needed using purchase requisition forms.

· Interacts with hourly and salaried personnel, outside vendors and contractors.

· Works with mechanics to perform repairs as needed.

· All other duties as assigned by Supervisor

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

· Must be able to work with others

· Department of Labor Apprenticeship Certificate or Associates Degree in Electronics

· High School diploma or GED equivalent
