Reporting to the Superintendent, the Electrician Solar Installer will ensure the safe connection of electrical wiring from solar panels to the main service panel and metres for the installations of solar systems on residential and commercial projects. As an Electrician Solar Installer, you are responsible for adhering to the highest quality of work, training junior installers, and ensuring that all projects are completed safely
- Read and understand SLD’s to ensure equipment is consistent with project plan
- Placement and termination of combiners, inverters and disconnects
- Expert in bending and running conduit from array to combiner/inverter
- Termination of all electrical equipment
- Mentorship and support with on-the-job training plans for installers and apprentices
- Ensuring all stickers and labels are placed per code
- Installation and commissioning of EV charger stations and Powerwalls
- Installing, upgrading and swapping of sub-service and main service panels
- Confident in commissioning of solar systems once work installation is completed
- Accountable for site safety and education of our safety process and policies
- Responsible for project quality assurance maintaining RMSC standards
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients and address questions and concerns
- Ensure that vehicles are in good working order and correct materials are available for projects
- Mentoring of junior installers or labourers as needed
- Journeyperson Electrician certification preferred
- Commercial and residential solar energy system installation experience required
- Ability to work in a variety of outdoor weather conditions and office settings
- Must be able to work at heights and safely lift up to 50lbs
- Strong understanding of federal and provincial electrical codes and regulations
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and motivate a team of installers
- Ability to troubleshoot and provide creative problem-solving solutions in fast paced environment
- Exceptional ability to effectively communicate with crews, project teams and leadership
- Computer and software skills required
