Our Denver office is seeking a Mid-level Electrical Engineer with experience designing and performing power system studies for midstream oil and gas, energy plants, and facilities. This position will actively participate in the full project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out.
- Lead small projects from start to finish.
- Perform power system studies and electrical calculations.
- Design power systems 480 V and below (MCC & motor controls, transformers, ASDs, etc.) and perform calculations for conduit fill, voltage drop, sizing of transformers, conductors, panelboards, breakers, etc.
- Coordinate with electric utilities for new services.
- Travel independently to and conduct site surveys to document electrical as-built information for power system studies (Approximately 10% of the time).
- 5 years of engineering design and power system study experience supporting oil and gas and heavy industrial projects.
- Four-year engineering degree from an accredited university.
- EIT preferred
- Extensive working knowledge and understanding of the latest version of the National Electrical Code, especially for hazardous locations.
- Working knowledge of relevant standards: UL, API, NFPA, IEEE, NEMA.
- Understanding of power system studies using SKM, or ETAP.
- Experience with wiring diagrams, electrical interconnects, panel layouts, junction box design, PLC cabinet design, plot plans, loop diagrams, I/O lists, P&IDs, cable/conduit schedules, panelboard schedules, and electrical and instrument installation details.
- Minimal supervision of scope development and technical details.
- Proficient in MS Word & Excel in creating documents from scratch.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills: Ability to work with clients one-on-one.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
