Position description

The Electrical Design & Drafting Technologist prepares designs and engineering drawings for outdoor lighting projects. Duties include:

· Prepare electrical design: load calculations, wiring, conduit layout, voltage drop, panel schedules, single line diagrams

· Prepare detailed design drawings and installation details

· Compile engineering estimates

· Prepare reports, material and performance specifications.

· Construction monitoring

· Coordination of work with other parties: utilities, manufacturers, other designers, approving authorities

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and skills required

· Diploma or Degree in electrical engineering or related field

· Minimum of three years of progressive experience in drafting, lighting or electrical design.

· Solid knowledge of AutoCAD platform

· Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and other regulatory codes and standards

· Firm foundation in drawing creation, computer-aided design (CAD), and general computer skills.

Qualifications and skills preferred

· Registered member with the licensing body (APEGA, ASET), according to your education

· Familiarity with City of Calgary design and construction process and utility line assignment application (ULA/ CROWM)

· Experience with AGI32 or other lighting software

· Knowledge of IESNA guidelines and recommended practices

· OSP fibre optic design

Compensation

The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications. It may be higher or lower than the posted salary range.

Must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license and is required to provide their own reliable transportation.

The candidate must be Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

Skill testing will be performed before an offer of employment is made.
