As our Intermediate Electrical Designer, you will be responsible for preparing electrical design drawings, used in the construction and operation of oil and gas facilities. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact in a dynamic environment where your contributions will be truly valued.
Impact and Responsibilities
•Apply knowledge of electrical systems to support the development of engineering designs and drawings from preliminary concepts and specifications
•Prepare and review electrical design deliverables, including schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, equipment layouts, and control panel designs.
•Ensure designs meet technical specifications, regulations, codes, and client requirements
•Conduct thorough review of vendor drawings to maintain high-quality standards
•Collaborating with multi-disciplinary team in compiling construction work packages for contractor field installations
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a dynamic and seasoned Intermediate Electrical Designer, with strong technical analysis, design and evaluation. The ideal candidate will possess:
•A strong understanding of oil and gas electrical systems, including power distribution (low- and medium-voltage), PLC and DCS control systems, and hazardous area classification
•Strong communication abilities, enabling strong connections across teams
•Excellent interpersonal skills
•Collaborative approach, with the ability to work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure quality standards are met and projects are executed smoothly
•Proactive and adaptable attitude, capable of thriving amidst changing project demands and priorities
•Experience in fast-paced, technically driven, project-based environments
Qualifications
•Journeyman Electrician OR College diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electrical Design/Drafting Technology registered with ASET with a CET designation
•Minimum of 4 years’ experience in oil and gas industry
•Strong understanding of P&IDs
•Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
•AutoCAD or Bluebeam experience is an asset but willing to train
•Able to interpret and apply the Canadian Electrical Code
•Able to size MCCs, VFDs, cables protective devices and related equipment as per the Canadian Electrical Code
•Able to work with minimal supervision
