Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule
$35.33 PER HOUR
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive on the job training, learn principles of operation, and qualify on the first operating position in the operator’s line of progression within 30 break-in days.
- Receive on the job training, learn principles of operation, and qualify on the second operating position in the operator’s line of progression within an additional 45 break-in-days. Duties 1 and 2 must be completed within a 120-calendar day probationary period. 180 days if new hire.
- Observe the functions of the remaining operating positions as training opportunities are provided, and learn more advanced principles of operation as assigned.
- Relieve on all job vacancies and assume the duties and responsibilities for operating positions for which employee has been qualified, as assigned.
- Assist in the general cleaning of all plant equipment.
- Provides general labor maintenance and general yard maintenance.
- Train and qualify to operate Skid Steer, Vacuum Truck, Forklift, and Dump Truck. Once qualified, operate equipment as needed.
- Cleans and repairs driveways, removes snow, cleans plant intakes, cleans settling basins, and pumps water from underground electrical ducts or flooded areas.
- Performs other duties as assigned pertaining to the upkeep of the various BPU properties and buildings as directed.

Qualifications
Education / Experience:High School Diploma/GED required; post high school education preferred; power plant or process plant operations training or education preferred.
Position Requirements (Abilities)
- Must be able to perform simple arithmetic and demonstrate good mechanical aptitude
- Must be willing to acquire necessary knowledge through on-the-job training self study or outside education as required
- Must be willing to train and qualify for increasingly more responsible positions in the operators’ line of progression and on a Skid Steer, Vacuum Truck, Forklift, and Dump Truck during probation period
- Able to work rotating shifts, overtime, regular days off or holidays.
- Must have a good attendance and safety record.
- A valid Driver’s Licenses.
