COMPENSATION: $70-80,000/per annum, based on knowledge and experience. JOB TYPE: Full-time, exempt. HOURS: Monday-Friday, 40+ hour work week is required.

About the role:The EHS Coordinator supports Environmental, Health, and Safety programs across Metalico's Buffalo Division Facilities, including scrap metal recycling yards, auto parts operations, and processing facilities.
The EHS Coordinator will serve as a key resource to facility managers and employees, helping ensure compliance with OSHA, NYSDEC, EPA, and company standards - while also driving practical, workable safety solutions in an active industrial environment.
This is a high-visibility role with regular interaction with operations leadership and corporate EHS.
Key Responsibilities:- Support EHS compliance across multiple assigned facilities within the Buffalo Division.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, or environmental concerns.
- Partner with facility leadership to develop and track corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit required EHS reports (monthly, quarterly, and regulatory as needed).
- Lead or assist with incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis.
- Coordinate and deliver EHS training (new hire, refresher, regulatory, site-specific).
- Assist during regulatory inspections and act as a site-level EHS contact.
- Maintain EHS documentation, permits, and records.
- Promote a proactive, solutions-oriented safety culture.
- Support implementation of corporate EHS programs and initiatives.

Required Qualifications:- 3-5 years of EHS, Safety, or Environmental experience in an industrial, manufacturing, construction, waste, or recycling environment.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general environmental compliance.
- Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with employees at all levels.
- Ability to work independently across multiple states.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite (Work, Excel, Outlook)
- Willingness to travel locally between facilities.
- Scrap metal, recycling, or heavy industrial experience
- Experience with NYSDEC or environmental permitting/reporting.
- Prior experience supporting regulatory inspections.
- Combination of office work and active industrial fieldwork.
- Exposure to outdoor conditions, noise, dust, and heavy equipment.
- Ability to walk facilities, climb stairs/ladders, and wear required PPE.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
