POSITION PURPOSE: Assure compliance with all federal, state and local environmental, health and safety statues and regulations through monitoring, program development, training, and reporting. Responsible for the pretreatment section and wastewater treatment facilities in Elk Grove Village to achieve set quality and manufacturing goals.
Prepare, maintain and submit all compliance documentation such as operating permits, shipping manifests, hazardous chemical reports and air and water quality reports
Chief responsibility for environmental compliance in Elk Grove Village through monitoring and auditing the facility for compliance, reporting out of compliance situations and attending hearings with regulatory agencies
Oversee wastewater treatment room and hazardous waste program to ensure compliance with government agencies and to ensure proper waste handling, storage, labeling, transportation, disposal and recordkeeping
Oversee changes, modifications and preventative maintenance to the Pretreatment Section of the production lines and Wastewater treatment facilities in Elk Grove Village
Audit environmental waste haulers for compliance to Environmental Protection Agency’s regulations in order to decrease the company's environmental liability
Develop, maintain, monitor variances and control departmental budgets; and drive operational improvements through pollution prevention programs and safety programs
Report regularly through written and oral communication the activities and accomplishments of the Environmental, Health and Safety Department
Direct and oversee the administration of the safety program and training
Oversee the chemical usage of the pretreatment section of the production lines and wastewater facilities
Direct emergency response activities including clean-up, investigation and reporting of toxic and hazardous spills
Responsible for ISO 14001 reporting, monitoring, procedure, audit, and certification
Order and oversee hazardous waste shipments for all Elk Grove Village facilities
Perform accident investigation and make recommendations to improve safety
Education: BS/BA degree in environmental studies or related field
Experience: 3 to 5 years’ experience in an environmental, health and safety function for a manufacturing environment
Must have strong leadership skills and the ability to delegate responsibility to others
Must be able to perform mathematical and statistical analysis in order to create accurate records and reports
Capable of interacting with all levels of the organization
Prefer Class K certification and ERMS Account officer, UST Operator Certification or must obtain within 1 year of employment
