Canlin is hiring a Drilling & Completions Engineer with approximately 10 years of relevant experience for our Calgary team. The ideal candidate will have knowledge in drilling, completions, workovers and abandonments. Canlin Energy’s (CEC) operates all over the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (WCSB), focusing primarily on natural gas and conventional pumping oil wells. With its mature land base, primary focus will be well abandonment programming and workovers along with supporting infield drilling and initial completions. The Role
•Working with the Sr. Completions Superintendent, lead the design, planning, and support the execution of completions, workover and abandonment operations. Ensure that the jobs are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety standards.
•Working with the D&C Team Lead, support in all aspects of drilling conventional and unconventional wells.
•Oversee the selection and optimization of drilling and completions technologies, materials, and equipment.
•Detailed cost estimations, cost tracking and look backs
•Design and implement safe and cost-effective well abandonment procedures, ensuring regulatory compliance and environmental protection.
•Manage risk assessments for abandonment, ensuring the integrity of the well during the process.
•Working in a multi-disciplinary team, deliver well projects from conception to execution
•Monitoring KPIs and performance metrics with real time data.
•Drilling and Completions offset research using Geoscout
•Lead efforts to maintain a culture of safety, ensuring that all operations comply with industry regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
•Ensure continuous monitoring and auditing of well integrity, making recommendations for improvements and corrective actions as necessary.
•Participate in service quality reviews and vendor safety audits
•Assist in the bid process in partnership with Supply Chain for the selection of service providers and in alignment with contractor management procedures.
•Work with the Team to manage service provider relationships including dispute resolution and performance analysis.
•Maintain an awareness of new and emerging technologies and where to apply these technologies.
The Person
· Post-secondary education in engineering required
· Registration as a Professional Engineer or eligibility for registration
· Knowledge of regulatory requirements in Alberta and British Columbia
· Well-developed interpersonal skills and proven ability to work well within a team environment.
· Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills
· Strong computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Wellview & GeoScout.
· Time management, organization, and work planning skills
· The ability to work in a high project load environment with intense activity periods
· Valid drivers' license and ability to travel to field sites is required
