Job Summary:
This position is responsible for operating the controls of the rig and leads crew during operation.
Open Mountain Energy, LLC will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
Duties/Responsibilities:
•Oversight of mobilization, set up and break down of drill rig equipment as directed by the Rig Manager
•Reads, interprets, and takes appropriate action as indicated by the various gauges, indicators, and control devices on the rig
•Make regular inspections of the rig to ensure that all safety and operating equipment is running efficiently
•Regular observance of the drilling fluid for inaccuracies and directs the Derrick hand accordingly
•Issues directive and/or instructions for maintenance to be completed
•Keeps an accurate records of drill pipe, casing, and the care of materials, equipment, and spare parts necessary for normal operation
•Informs relief shift of all necessary information for seamless transfer
•Participates in all safety programs, processes, and requirements
•Ensures new crew members are properly trained and familiarized with safety procedures and teamwork
•Responsible for housekeeping, rig servicing, lubrication, and upkeep of the rig during tour
•Responsible for timely and accurate submission of various reports
•Works overtime, weekends, holidays, etc. as required to complete the job necessary
•Responsible for immediate reporting of accidents and incidents
•Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
•Must possess a valid well-control certificate (IWCF or IADC) or ability to obtain well-control certificate immediately upon employment
•Knowledge and ability work on a drill rig
•Knowledge of and compliance with all OSHA safety procedures and protocol
•Work as a team and share knowledge of other rig positions
•Knowledge of rigging fundamentals and protocol
•Think quickly and respond to changing situations
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Possess a valid state driver’s license
•Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
•Ability to drive positive and productive outcomes
•Ability to conduct all tasks with honesty and integrity
Education and Experience:
•Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
•Minimum Two (2) years’ experience as a rig driller
Preferred Education and Experience:
•Two (2) years+ of Geothermal drilling experience
Physical and work environments requirements:
•Ability to work on a drill rig
•Ability to lift to 50lbs
•Ability to work in adverse weather conditions (i.e., hot, cold, etc.)
•Ability to climb, work at elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways frequently
•Ability to stand for long periods of time consistently
•Ability to stoop, bend or kneel frequently
•Must be able to traverse all areas of working sites
•Must be able to travel to various locations
•Must be able to inspect construction sites, systems, and projects visually
•Must be able to operate a company vehicle with a valid driver’s license
