The Director, Strategic Initiatives goal is to lead and deliver complex, high-
impact customer-focused energy initiatives with speed, discipline, and
measurable outcomes. Reporting directly to the Chief Customer Officer (CCO),
the Director ensures that strategic priorities—such as electric vehicle
infrastructure, residential energy storage, demand-side management, and
innovative rate programs—are translated into actionable, results-driven
programs that improve the customer experience and advance energy innovation.
The Director, Strategic Initiatives will act as a strategic and operational advisor
to the CCO. Integrate efforts across the CCO’s leadership team to maintain
alignment with overall vision. Oversee implementation of transformational
programs that connect utility reform with economic empowerment, including
initiatives like utility bill financing, energy affordability solutions, and technology-
driven customer services. Engage with elected officials, regulators, TVA, and
other key external stakeholders. Lead cross-functional teams to ensure timely,
effective delivery of high-visibility projects such as EV charging, time-of-use
pricing, and demand response technologies. This role is critical to ensuring
MLGW’s transformation objectives are not only well-defined but fully realized
through strong leadership, stakeholder collaboration, and execution excellence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensure the effective execution of the (CCO) strategic
vision by coordinating and aligning cross-departmental efforts. Convert strategic
priorities into clearly defined, actionable projects with specific business
outcomes, timelines, and success metrics. Lead the creation, rollout, and
performance assessment of new energy programs, such as EV charging
infrastructure, residential battery storage, and demand response initiatives.
Break down silos by fostering collaboration and alignment across internal
departments—including Billing, Engineering & Construction, Customer Service,
Finance, IT/IS, Legal—and external partners like government agencies. Serve as
a key representative of MLGW’s customer-centric energy strategy in
engagements with elected officials, regulatory agencies, and executive-level
stakeholders. This role is essential to advancing MLGW’s energy transformation
by driving cross-functional execution, promoting innovation, and ensuring
strategic objectives are delivered with measurable impact. Perform other duties
as directed.
LICENSES AND
A valid driver’s license from state of residence is required.
CERTIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Engineering, Finance or related
field is required. Master's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Seven (7) years of professional related leadership experience in utility strategy,
energy programs, public infrastructure or cross-functional operations including
two (2) years of management experience is required. Demonstrate success in
leading and delivering large-scale, enterprise-level programs on time and within
defined scope. Strong executive presence with well-developed political acumen.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Must successfully complete NIMS training within one year of entering the job.
Must have an occupationally significant combination of working job knowledge:
excellent verbal/written communications skills; proven analytical, problem solving
and decision-making abilities; leadership, customer relations, and resource
management skills; a high level of integrity; abilities in working as a team and
promoting safety work practices; mathematical ability to prepare/review financial/
statistical reports and flexibility to adjust to changing conditions. Physical
Demands: Work inside majority of time. Requires sedentary work involvingstanding, sitting, climbing and walking around to different locations, exerting up
to 20 pounds of force on a regular basis.
