We are seeking a Director of Origination to lead commercial origination activities across wholesale power markets, focusing on structured transactions, long-term offtake agreements, and client-driven energy solutions. This strategic role will be critical in expanding market presence, originating value-driven deals, and supporting the broader commercial and asset development strategy.
Key Responsibilities
•Originate and structure complex power transactions including PPAs, tolling agreements, hedges, and other long-term contracts.
•Build and maintain strong relationships with counterparties across utilities, cooperatives, large industrials, and aggregators.
•Work closely with trading, asset management, legal, and risk teams to evaluate deal economics and risk profiles.
•Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and competitor strategies to identify new opportunities.
•Support business development in both conventional and renewable generation—including solar, wind, battery storage, and gas-fired assets.
•Develop and present proposals, term sheets, and commercial analyses to internal and external stakeholders.
•Represent the company at industry events and conferences to enhance visibility and network.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, JD, MS in Engineering or Finance) preferred.
•Minimum 8–10 years of experience in energy origination, structured transactions, or power marketing.
•Deep understanding of U.S. power markets (ERCOT, PJM, CAISO, etc.) and deal structuring practices.
•Experience with renewable PPAs, virtual PPAs (vPPAs), hedges, and capacity or ancillary products.
•Strong analytical, negotiation, and financial modeling skills.
•Excellent communication and relationship management capabilities.
•Proven ability to work cross-functionally with legal, operations, and risk teams.
•Entrepreneurial mindset with a strategic approach to market expansion.
